Bathroom Renovation Wiring in North New Jersey
Bathrooms mix water and electricity in a small space, which is why the electrical code is stricter here than almost anywhere else in your home. A bathroom renovation done right means GFCI protection everywhere, a properly vented exhaust fan, fixtures rated for damp and wet locations, and dedicated circuits for the heavy hitters like heated floors and towel warmers.
Bright Ideas Electric handles bathroom electrical work across North New Jersey — bathroom exhaust fans are listed right on our van. Whether you're refreshing a powder room or gutting a primary bath, we'll rough in the wiring, set the fixtures, and get you through inspection without drama.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does every bathroom outlet need to be GFCI protected?
Yes. Current code requires GFCI protection for all bathroom receptacles, and it's one of the most important safety devices in your home — a GFCI cuts power in a fraction of a second if electricity finds a path through water or a person. We install GFCI protection at the receptacle or breaker as appropriate for the circuit design.
Do I need a special light fixture over the shower or tub?
Yes. Fixtures directly over a tub or shower must be rated for damp or wet locations depending on placement. Standard fixtures in those zones are a code violation and a safety risk. We'll spec and install properly rated recessed or surface fixtures that still look the way you want.
Can you install a bathroom exhaust fan where there isn't one?
Yes — it's one of our most requested bathroom jobs. We install the fan, run the wiring and switch (or humidity-sensing control), and duct it to the outside per code. Venting into the attic is a moisture problem waiting to happen, so we always duct to the exterior.
What does heated bathroom flooring need electrically?
Electric radiant floor systems need a dedicated circuit sized to the mat's load, a GFCI-protected feed, and a floor-sensing thermostat. We coordinate with your tile installer so the wiring and sensor go in at exactly the right stage of the renovation.
How much does bathroom electrical work cost?
It varies with the scope — a fan replacement is very different from a gut renovation with heated floors. We give free, itemized estimates so you can see exactly what each piece costs and decide what's in or out before work starts.
