Under-Cabinet Lighting Installation in North New Jersey

Under-cabinet lighting is the highest-impact upgrade a kitchen can get for the money: it puts bright, shadow-free light exactly where you work, shows off the backsplash, and turns the kitchen into a completely different room after dark.

Bright Ideas Electric installs hardwired LED under-cabinet systems throughout North New Jersey — strip lights, puck lights, and low-profile bars, wired to a wall switch or dimmer with no dangling cords or visible drivers. The photo above is our work: a continuous LED strip that washes the counter in even, warm light.

We can install during a renovation with the walls open, or retrofit lighting into a finished kitchen with minimal disturbance — we fish the wiring so you get a built-in look either way.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's better: LED strips or puck lights?
LED strips give continuous, even light across the whole counter with no hot spots — that's what we install most. Puck lights create defined pools of light and can work well for accenting. We'll show you both and recommend based on your cabinets, counters, and taste.
Is hardwired under-cabinet lighting worth it over plug-in kits?
Plug-in kits mean visible cords, occupied outlets, and adhesive strips that sag over time. Hardwired systems disappear into the cabinetry, switch from the wall like any other light, dim smoothly, and add real value to the kitchen. If you're paying for an electrician's visit anyway, hardwired is almost always the right call.
Can you add under-cabinet lighting without tearing up my walls?
In most kitchens, yes. We fish cable behind the backsplash or through the cabinets from above or below, keeping any openings small and hidden. During a renovation it's even easier — tell us before the walls close up.
Can under-cabinet lights be dimmed or made smart?
Yes. We install LED-compatible dimmers as standard, and can put your under-cabinet lighting on a smart switch so it works with Alexa, Google Home, schedules, or scenes — a nice pairing with our home automation services.
What color light should I choose for a kitchen?
Most homeowners prefer warm white (2700-3000K) to match typical kitchen lighting, while some prefer a neutral 3500-4000K for a crisper look over white counters. We can bring samples or install tunable strips so you're not locked in.
